5 gadgets you must take on holiday with you

Going on holiday is a time for rest and relaxation, but having some of your favourite gadgets close at hand can make the trip even better. But with limited luggage space, you're going to have to decide carefully what to take and what to leave at home.

Here are five gadgets you must take on holiday with you:

Mobile phone

It's difficult to go anywhere without a mobile phone these days, and holidays are no different.

Keeping your mobile phone with you means you can always be contacted in the event of an emergency, while it gives you the chance to stay in touch with loved ones at home too.

However, if you are travelling abroad be aware of data roaming charges, as if you are not signed up to a plan that allows you to browse the web abroad it could result in a large bill on your return.

E-reader

E-readers are one of the best inventions of the modern era and they are the perfect gadget to take on holiday.

Instead of having to take half a dozen books with you on holiday to provide plenty of reading material, simply download some new material on to your e-reader before setting off, and you're ready to go.

If you are staying somewhere with Wi-Fi available you will even be able to download the latest issues of your favourite newspapers while you are out of the country, making sure you can keep up to date with the news while you are away.

Digital camera

A digital camera is a must-pack item for a holiday in the 21st century, allowing you to record your experiences and peruse them at your leisure at a later date.

Technology moves so fast these days that excellent quality digital cameras are now very affordable and you cannot put a price on the memories you will be able to capture by taking photographs of your holiday.

Those family snaps will last for a lifetime and digital cameras are very small nowadays, meaning they do not have to take up a lot of room in your luggage.

Being able to browse through your photographs when you get home extends that holiday feeling.

Tablet computer

Tablet computers such as Apple's iPad are a relatively new arrival to the technology market, but they have quickly made themselves indispensable to a lot of people.

Bridging the gap between a mobile phone and a laptop computer, a tablet is the ideal device on which to watch films and play games while you are on holiday, or even to pass time on the flight.

They can also be used as an e-reader in a lot of cases, so you will be able to pick and choose between which gadget you will find the most useful while you are away.

Noise-cancelling headphones

Noise-cancelling headphones are a must if you want to get some quiet rest on your flight, or whenever you want some time to yourself on your hard-earned break.

The technology means you will be oblivious to the sounds around you, allowing you to get lost in your favourite films, music and television during your holiday.
