As much as they try, many Hollywood blockbusters and cult TV classics fall short of being realistic—though research says they nail car breakdowns on the head
Halfords Autocentre have conducted some research into some of our most loved films, particularly involving car breakdowns, with some surprising results! Each year in the UK, Highways England deal with more than 85,000 breakdowns, and it appears that our favourite films are also following suit.
Some of their findings included:
- 44% of breakdowns occur in horror films
- 37% of movie breakdowns occur on a road trip
- 31% of film breakdowns involve a ‘smoking bonnet’
- Ford and Chevrolet appear in 30% of film breakdowns
