Gift for him: Quality grooming

Gift for him: Quality grooming

The perfect grooming Christmas gift for him? Fix up and look sharp with a grooming session at a traditional barber salon.

Men and grooming?!

Attitudes towards male grooming have altered significantly over the past decade. Fashion has rejected the archetypal ‘rough and ready’ man’s man in favour of the well-primed gent. Flanagans Gent’s Hairdressing director Chris Mullen affirms that "Gents are prepared to invest in their image more than ever. It’s a modern social movement that has had a significant effect on the male hairdressing industry”.

Flanagans is an establishment that has taken full advantage of this trend. For 21 years the company has pioneered gent’s hairdressing, founding five salons and two training academies in and around Manchester and Cheshire.

Styling the stylish

Its salons are perfectly in tune with the desires of the modern gent, being at once traditional and innovative.

“We try to promote a relaxed yet professional environment; you can watch TV or sports and enjoy a complimentary coffee or beer. Our salons are similar to gentleman clubs, without any pretence.” Like any styling service, the team at Flanagans keep an eye out for emerging trends. “Short hair that’s clippered and fades into the skin with a side parting or quiff is very current,” says Chris. “We have developed our own version of the quiffed look called Americana, also, the Steve McQueen inspired Scissor Crew—a cut where the hair has more movement and length through the back and sides—is very popular.”

Know your product

The increase in luxury male grooming products has also helped the industry flourish.
“I believe everyone should use a great styling product alongside a quality shampoo and conditioner,” Chris claims and adds: “Good shaving products are a must. They can aid a closer shave and using a quality moisturiser nourishes the skin afterwards.” If you prefer to sport a fuller beard, Chris recommends using an oil: “it will help to condition as well as settle irritation or itching.

Flanagans Gent's Hairdresser

Flanagans offer a range of services from beard trims to deep-treatments and full re-styles. “We always have offers on. These include package deals, discounts, vouchers and product gift packs.” A trip to the barbers would be a great way to smarten up for the festive period. It’s good to know that you’re always in safe hands at Flanagans – especially when you’re popping in for a wet shave!  Keep up to date with the latest deals through social media channels or visit the website for direct contact details and pricelists.
