Actress to Attorney - The Challenging Road to Success by Kelly Hyman

Kelly Hyman is widely recognised in different circles, both from her acting career in hit shows including ‘the Young and the Restless’, and ‘Gettin There’, and her work as a top attorney.

Kelly has worked on a range of high-profile cases against large companies including Big tobacco, Johnson & Johnson and Google, and she has gained a reputation as the ‘Erin Brokovich’ of the modern world. This is down to the types of cases she works on which include suits involving tobacco, water contamination and bladder slings. Her main passion is helping others, especially those in need, and this is why she focuses on class action and mass tort law cases.

Early Career

Kelly began her acting career at an incredibly young age, with the main aim of helping support her mother financially. She was known for playing the character Loretta on ‘The Young and the Restless’ and her role in ‘Gettin There.’ Her acting career began when her mother gave tennis lessons to Charlton Heston and asked him if he would help Kelly find an agent.

Her early years were filled with travelling around, although she landed most of her work in New York. She attended and graduated from UCLA, where she studied Communications.  Kelly recalls that her difficult childhood has taught her a lot about the importance of hard work and responsibility.

Actress to Attorney

It was a former classmate of Kelly’s who gave her the inspiration to embark on a career in law, something she pursued by earning a Juris Doctor cum from University of Florida. She is passionate about her career and her acting skills have helped her in court, as well as when appearing on television. It has also helped develop her communication skills and confidence.  Kelly is able to empathise with others, and walk in another person’s shoes, which has helped in her approach to law.

Kelly has also been proactive in politics throughout her whole life, and even served in the White House internship program. Fighting for human rights is something she’s done throughout her whole life, and she doesn’t look like stopping this any time soon.

Although passionate about politics, she does not have any intention to run for office.

Television Career

Nowadays, Kelly has a presence as a media commentator on Fox News, giving her democratic opinion on different issues. Some of the programs she has appeared on include ‘Law and Crime’, CourtTV, ABC, ‘Fox and Friends First’ and ‘The Ingraham Angle.’ She is passionate about defending human rights, including equality and voters rights, and has expertise within a range of other human rights issues.

Women Empowerment

Something else Kelly Hyman is passionate about is women’s empowerment and she was even on the board of non-profit organisation ‘Dress for Success.’ Her passion for helping women comes from being raised by a single mother, and all the struggles that went along with this.
