3 ways drinking wine can benefit your health
Lots of us reach for a bottle of wine after a long day at work. Not only can this silky smooth liquid help us to relax but it also tastes pretty good too. However, these aren’t the only perks of drinking wine.  Did you realise that drinking wine in moderation may also be good for your health? Wine is packed full of body-boosting qualities that range from giving the libido a boost to helping fight off depression. Not only that, but when consumed in moderation, wine has also been shown to help reduce the risk of stroke, cancer, and much more. Keep reading below to find out some of the ways drinking wine in moderation can benefit your health:

1. A Healthier Heart

Research has shown that drinking wine in moderation can reduce the risk of heart attacks or cardiovascular disease. In fact, a recent report suggested that compared to people who don’t drink any alcohol at all, light drinkers who drink wine in moderation reduce their risk of dying prematurely by almost 1/3rd. Not only that, but this report also suggested that people who drink wine in a group had much lower mortality from cancer or cardiovascular disease. Actually, drinking any type of alcoholic beverage, such as the ones supplied at The Crafty Vintner, is believed to help.

2. It Contains Antioxidants

While all wine contains antioxidants, it’s believed that red wine contains the most. There are two main antioxidants in red wine:
  • Resveratrol – this antioxidant helps fight off infection, helps reduce the risk of heart attack or heart disease, and protects against cell damage. Not only that, but it can also help to keep your mind sharp and active.
  • Quercetin – this antioxidant acts as a preservative. Researchers believe that it can inhibit the growth of cancer cells in the lungs, colon, breasts, prostate, and ovaries. It also hinders tumour growth.

3. Helps Reduce Inflammation

Chronic inflammation can be damaging to our health. It can increase the risk of conditions such as autoimmune disorders, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. Therefore, it’s important to try and reduce the amount of inflammation in our bodies as much as possible.
While there are several ways to reduce chronic inflammation such as through our diet, stress reduction, and exercise, drinking wine in moderation has been proven to help too. In fact, a recent study showed that people who consumed a glass of wine daily had significantly reduced inflammatory markers compared to people who didn’t drink alcohol. This is because wine contains anti-inflammatory compounds.
Wine has been a popular choice of alcoholic drink for thousands of years, and the benefits of drinking wine have been well documented in the past. Although some doctors disagree with this idea, research continues to suggest that drinking wine in moderation – approximately one glass a day – offers several health benefits. However, like all types of alcohol, drinking too much wine isn’t advisable. If you want to get the health benefits we’ve listed above then make sure you don’t exceed the recommended daily allowance.
