Treat yourself in the morning with these enticing breakfast drinks, whether you're after a healthy smoothie or a hot coffee infused with Spanish flavours

Maple cream coffee

Taste of Home Test Kitchen
2 servings

Ingredients

On a crisp day, this creamy drink is the ideal way to warm up. Even non-coffee drinkers will enjoy the hint of maple and light coffee flavour in our home economists’ top-pick beverage.
  • ¾ cup half-and-half cream
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 ¼ cups brewed coffee
  • ¼ cup whipped cream

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, cook and stir cream and syrup over medium heat until heated through (do not boil).
  2. Divide evenly between two cups. Stir in coffee. Top with whipped cream.

Banana smoothie

3-4 servings (3 ½ cups)
This has to be one of my best recipes because it can be made in a flash, yet it’s incredibly delicious. The honey adds just the right amount of sweetness to the full banana flavour.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 medium ripe bananas
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Stir if necessary.
  2. Pour in to chilled glasses; serve immediately.

Honey coffee

Taste of Home Test Kitchen
4 servings
For a quick pick-me-up, sip this pleasantly sweet coffee, inspired by the taste of a traditional Spanish latte.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups hot strong brewed coffee (French or other dark roast)
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Dash ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the coffee, milk, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook and stir until heated through (do not boil).
  2. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Pour into mugs or cups; serve immediately.
