An easy way for veterans to save money this D-Day

D-Day, which remembers the historic landing of US troops on the beaches of Normandy during World War II, is one of a handful of US holidays dedicated to the US military.

Like Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Pearl Harbor Day, D-Day honors the men and women who have served bravely in the US military.

BetterWorldRx believes that veterans and those serving in the military deserve more than a handful of days each year to be remembered and honored. That is why it designed its prescription savings card to not only help veterans or anyone else to save money on prescription drugs, but also to give back to veterans and their families.

"To us, this was not about profits over purpose," said Kym Secrist, co-founder of BetterWorldRx. "We got into the prescription discount business to help average Americans pay for their most basic needs: food, fuel, rent, daycare, clothing, and their life-saving medications. Staying true to our mission, we sought to partner with entities that favored deeper discounts to consumers over higher commissions to us. That's what we achieved."

BetterWorldRx, a US-based company whose services currently are only available to those in the US and US territories, goes the extra mile to put purpose over profits. In addition to helping shoppers to save as much as 97 percent on prescription drugs, it also empowers them to support charitable organizations. With every purchase made through the BetterWorldRx app, users can direct a $1 donation to the charity of their liking at no additional cost to them.

The BetterWorldRx app provides a long list of charities that users can support with their purchases, including the American Humane Society, Compassion International, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, the American Lung Association, and Doctors Without Borders. For those interested specifically in supporting veterans, the app allows donations to be directed to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, Hope for the Warriors, the National Military Family Association, Semper Fi Fund, and a host of other charities focused on supporting veterans and their families.

In addition to providing savings and an opportunity to give back, BetterWorldRx also provides convenience. The app is available on both the Apple App and Google Play stores, it is simple to download and use, and it dials up deals from nearby pharmacies including Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid, and Costco.

After downloading the app, shoppers select a charity, enter their zip code, then type in the medication they need. The app instantly provides a list of pharmacies where discount prices are available. The list can be sorted by the name of the pharmacy, the distance that must be traveled to reach the pharmacy, or the discounted price of the medication. To obtain the discount, the user only needs to show the pharmacist the information provided on the app.

BetterWorldRx allows its users to save on more than 10,000 medications, with the discounted prices often falling below the $20 copay that is required by many insurance plans. Examples of the savings on some of today’s most frequently prescribed drugs include 91 percent on Atorvastatin Calcium, 71 percent on Amoxicillin, 74 percent on Lisinopril, 74 percent on Albuterol, 84 percent on Amlodipine Besylate, and 70 percent on Omeprazole.

With inflation in the US at a 40-year high, most consumers are looking for ways to save money. Reports show that nearly 66 percent of American adults use prescription drugs, and that many struggle to pay for them. The BetterWorldRx app makes it easy and convenient to cut down on medication expenses while supporting the work of charities around the world.
