Exploring the Greek isles
The Greek Islands are some of the most popular destinations in the world thanks to their picturesque scenery, rich history and sun kissed shores.
With over 200 islands scattered across the Ionian and Aegean seas, it’s no surprise that Greece is a holiday hotspot. We take a look at some of our favourite islands below for a luxury holiday in Greece.

Crete

The largest of the Greek islands, Crete is diverse with a whole range of activities and experiences to discover. With rugged mountains and ancient ruins, there really is something for everyone here. Head to Knossos and take a step back in time as you explore the ancient Minoan palace, the largest and most preserved on the island. On the eastern side of Crete, you can enjoy a trip to Lasithi Plateau which is home to a number of small traditional villages, windmills and interesting archaeological sites. Don’t miss out on a trip to Dikteon Cave, legend states it’s the birthplace of Zeus.

Corfu

Corfu is located in the Ionian Sea and offers visitors a beautiful blend of Greek and Italian culture. Known for its stunning beaches and charming villages, Corfu delights all who visit there. Be sure to explore Corfu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that is famous for its intricate Venetian architecture, pastel shaded buildings and narrow streets. One of the best ways to discover Corfu is by boat so be sure to enjoy the stunning coastline from the water. You could even take a day trip to the nearby islands of Antipaxos and Paxos.

Santorini

The island of Santorini is breathtakingly beautiful with its iconic sunsets, whitewashed cliffside buildings and volcanic beaches. Pay a visit to the village of Oia on the northern tip of the island. It is perhaps the most photographed spot on the whole island with its famous, blue-domed churches and stunning Caldera views. Take a wander through the narrow streets and admire the souvenir shops and small boutiques. The Caldera is a geological wonder created by the eruption of a volcano many years ago and Santorini is an absolute must see!

Kefalonia

Kefalonia can be found in the Ionian Sea and is known for its crystal-clear waters, pretty villages and stunning natural beauty. Myrtos Beach is one of the most beautiful in the world with its white pebble shore and turquoise waters. Here you can laze and relax, swim in the sea, and soak up the mesmerising views. Another gem is the village of Fiskardo – a picturesque fishing village, it is filled with bright coloured buildings, delicious waterfront restaurants and a welcoming atmosphere.

Mykonos

Mykonos celebrates its cosmopolitan vibe, vibrant nightlife and beautiful beaches. Be sure to visit Little Venice, a picturesque neighbourhood on the waterfront of Mykonos Town. It is popular for its colourful buildings, pretty narrow streets and wonderful sunset views. Or head to Delos Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Here you can explore the ancient ruins like the Temple of Apollo and the House of Dionysus.

Zakynthos

In the Ionian Sea, Zakynthos is a top holiday hotspot. Perfect for families, Zakynthos is home to historic villages, enchanting forests and sea turtles. Take a bout tour and explore the Blue Caves that are on the northern coast of the island. Watch as the sun reflects off the water and lights up the cave in shades of blue. Or head to Laganas Bay where you’ll find the endangered loggerhead turtle and you’ll be able to swim with these magnificent creatures.

Rhodes

With its medieval old town and impressive acropolis, Rhodes is the perfect destination for lovers of history. Head to the Old Town of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and wander down the narrow streets, soaking up the atmosphere and admiring the historic buildings. Be sure to explore the village of Lindos on the east coast. It is home to a beautiful acropolis which offers sensational views across the island and the Aegean Sea.

Kos

The unique island of Kos is located in the Aegean Sea and offers an exciting blend of delights with its rich history, outstanding scenery and relaxing beaches. Head to the Castle of the Knights where you’ll learn about the history of the island. This medieval castle was built in the 14th century and plays an important role in telling the islands story. After a day of sightseeing be sure to relax on the beach. Kos is home to some beautiful beaches including Paradise and Marmari.
