7 best places to visit for foodies

We all love a good home cooked meal, but for those of us with wanderlust it's worth knowing where the best place to be is for an unforgettable meal. We've put together our seven favourite foodie cities along with some destination recommendations!

1 - New York City

New York, New York. It's practically the most famous city in the world, so it'd be a real shame if the food wasn't up to scratch. It's said that you can sample the delicacies of the whole world in the confines of Manhattan, so it's no wonder the locals rarely leave town! It's hard to narrow down the best restaurants in New York with a new one opening almost every day, but we've heard great things about Kajitsu, the cutting edge vegetarian restaurant.

2 - Brussels

Belgium is known worldwide for its waffles, its chocolate and its beer. That's a trio to drive any foodie wild with desire! One of the hottest restaurants in Brussels right now is Le Pigeon Noir. Seating just 20, Le Pigeon Noir is a very cosy venue with rave reviews. According to our most reliable sources, L'Archiduc is the place to be to grab a cheeky cocktail and Umamido is the best ramen establishment in town!

3 - Barcelona

Barcelona isn't just popular for its stunning architecture; people flock from far and wide to chow down there too. The number one restaurant right now is reportedly Cinc Sentits, a fine dining experience. If you're not interested in fine dining in Catalonia, you can always tuck into some traditional Spanish tapas at Quimet & Quimet!

4 - Copenhagen

When in Copenhagen, there are loads of ways to fully immerse yourself in the full-on Danish food experience. Aamanns Etablissement is a great start, serving classic Danish dishes and even their own homemade schnapps. If schnapps doesn't take your fancy, check out Restaurant Ida Davidsen which apparently does the best traditional Danish smørrebrød - literally 'open sandwiches' - in town!

5 - Paris

It's not all frogs legs and snails in France. Paris is one of the most sophisticated - and romantic - cities on earth when it comes to food. With glorious bread, unforgettable cheese and even better wine, those Parisiennes really know how to live! Le Petit Vendome is the place to be for lunch, as that's where you'll find some of the best sandwiches in the whole city. If you're looking for seafood, make sure you hunt down L'Ecailler du Bistrot which boast a luxurious selection of oysters amongst other treats from the sea.

6 - London

London's restaurant scene grows bigger, more diverse and more vibrant with every day that passes. A wide range of street food is available in various hotspots throughout London, as well as heaps of fresh produce in the many farmers markets across the city. The snacks at top restaurant "The Dairy" are said to be unmissable, whilst the puddings at Lyle's are always worth saving a little extra room for!

7 - New Orleans

New Orleans is known well for its huge mix of cultures when it comes to food with inspiration from all over the world. Ya-Ka-Mein, a beef noodle soup, is said to be a must-try while you're in the city, as is gumbo, a kind of stew, which can contain meat or shellfish.
