8 Best Dyson vacuums for all types of cleaning

When it comes to modern vacuums, Dyson stands at the top of the tree as far as technology, innovation and longevity goes. In part helping to normalise cordless vacuums, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the average British family has a Dyson at home.

If you’re in the market for an overall vacuum upgrade or you’re interested in your first cordless model, these are the top Dysons available to be aware of.

Coming in at the higher price end for Dyson vacuums is the Gen 5 Detect, a top-of-the-line vacuum that’s packed with technology.

This model comes with a whole=machine HEPA filter to capture up to 99.9 per cent of dust/micro particles and an advanced battery for a long running time of 70 minutes. Also included is a second cleaning head and a light that can be projected to highlight any missed-out dust and areas to clean.

The Dyson V15 is a fantastic all-rounder, made to a high standard. It comes with various cleaning tools for hard-to-reach places as well as being a tool for cleaning couches or even the inside of a car.

Notable features of this vacuum include automatic deep cleaning on carpet, with a cleaning head that adapts to different floors, and a high torque cleaning head, which de-tangles the comb when sucking up hair and dust.

The V12 is great for efficient and fast cleaning, with a whole-machine filtration system to keep it clean and clear of pesky dust. It can run for up to 60 minutes with a four-hour charge and has 150 air watt (AW) suction power, leaving it capable of cleaning up even the most stubborn dirt.

Featuring a different colour cylinder and an alternative back section to the V12 and V15, the V11 does the same job and does it well.

It features a battery monitor on the back, plus two different brush heads for portable use, and unlike a few other Dyson vacuums, the V11 is recommended to be used on all types of floor.

The V8 is an older overall Dyson vacuum but this is the 2023 updated version. It’s made to be used cordlessly and has a motorised cleaning head for effective cleaning and to avoid tangling with hair and general dirt.

The vacuum can be charged with an included docking station and its drum can be conveniently emptied after use with a simple latch system, allowing you to easily clean and maintain it.

Primarily made to be used for carpet, the V10 is a great vacuum for regular use, featuring 20 per cent more suction power than the Dyson Absolute V8. The vacuum can run for 60 minutes on a full charge and is light and easy to maneouvre, great for using around the house and effectively storing dirt.

The Dyson V8 Animal is great for deep cleaning on carpet utilising its bristles and powerful suction, coupled with flexibility and easy movement. It’s also powered by a nickel cobalt battery, which provides it with 40 minutes of use.

The Omni-Glide is made to be portable and, with a shorter runtime of 20 minutes, is ideal for quick, efficient cleaning. It comes with a 360-degree movable floor nozzle and a cleaning head more resemblant of a more traditional, non-Dyson vacuum.

This vacuum can also be wall-mounted and charged in that position if desired.
