Tips to Avoid Mildew and Mould in Bathroom

Fighting with mould in bathroom is necessary to keep your room healthy, safe and clean. It will increase the chances of damage to ceilings and walls. Remember, moisture accumulates in bathrooms. By decreasing the level of moisture, you can avoid the appearance of mould.

With some efforts, you can keep your bathrooms free from mould. Make sure to manage a consistent cleaning routine to slow down or prevent the growth of mould.

Use a Mould Spray

You can use a mould spray to prevent mildew and mould. If you already have growth of mildew around your bathroom, you will need a spray. A solution of ammonia will help you to stop the growth of mould.

Use this spray to clean mould from wood or drywall. Moreover, you can use bleach as a mould removal product. Bleach can produce toxic fumes; therefore, manage ventilation in your bathroom.

Use a Good Fan

Your bathroom needs an effective fan to keep it dry. The vent can work by sucking the moisture from the air and send this moisture outside. A small but powerful fan is enough to remove moisture from the indoor air.

Some people run fans during their bath or shower. You must leave your fan on for almost ½ hour after taking a shower. It will avoid leftover moisture from impacting the ceiling and walls. Feel free to put a timer on the fan to circulate sufficient air in your bathroom.

Use Your Squeegee

Use of squeegee may be an annoying activity, especially in the morning. You must have a squeegee to run on shower or tub walls. Make sure to use a squeegee to decrease moisture in the bathroom. It will help you to prevent dampness and mould.

Carefully Seal Grout Lines

Seal the putty lines tiles of your bathroom using a ground sealer for their waterproofing. To avoid mould in the bathroom, use water and detergent to scrub the walls. Make sure to use a mixture of 90% water and 10% bleach for cleaning.

You can spray this solution or apply with a brush, wait for ten minutes and wash it off. It is essential to choose the right size of an exhaust fan for your bathroom. Remember, your bath or shower is not the only source of bathroom mould. Make sure to look for leaks around the bathroom.

If you notice a leak, you should not leave this unattended. Call your plumber immediately to avoid the growth of mould. No doubt, it is difficult to remove mould as compared to preventing it.

Wash Towels and Rugs

Bathroom rugs, towels and mats are attractive spots for growth of mould. You should not leave them unattended for a longer period. Make sure to wash them regularly or once a week to prevent mould growth.

Carefully dry out all shower items to keep mould away. Remove sponges, product bottles and loofahs from the shower. Remember, water may accumulate under these items. Make sure to keep them dry to avoid the growth of mildew and mould.
