Trendy shoes for women in their 40s

Let’s be honest, you can never really have too many pairs of shoes no matter what age you are.

There’s always a perfect pair that goes with your outfit a little too well for you to pass up the opportunity to get them. Who knows whether you’ll come across them again, and you’ve definitely paid dearly in the past when you’ve seen some designer shoes and gone “I’ll get them later” only to never see them in the shops again.

Much like most trends out there, shoe trends are constantly changing and it can be hard to keep up with it all. But who says you have to sacrifice comfort for style? With so many shoe options out there, you’re bound to find something that appeals to your taste whilst also being comfortable enough to wear all day long!

Knee high boots

A shoe style that truly never goes out of fashion, no matter your age, is a good pair of knee-high boots. It’s what all the celebrities are wearing! These staple shoes truly can be paired with everything. From dresses to jeans and even trousers, they really can do it all and complete your look. With the option to dress them down or up, heeled boots or flat, there are an endless number of combinations that you can come up with for your knee-high boots, and they’re wearable in almost all seasons too!

White sneakers

A rather specific shoe type, but white sneakers are fashionable all year round, no matter the event or time of day. A pristine pair of white sneakers can really elevate your look and make you appear all the more put together. A slightly more worn-in pair can give your outfit that casual look if that’s what you’re after. Whether it’s brunch with the gals or a night out that requires comfort, if you’re unsure of what to wear for the night, these are your go-to shoes.

Block coloured heels

Another trend that we’re seeing more and more of are block-coloured heels. It’s time for patterned heels to take a bit of a backseat and let solid-coloured heels take the limelight for a little while. More and more women are preferring these in their wardrobe as they can take even the most basic of outfits and add a pop of colour to them. It’s not unusual these days to spot a pair of neon-coloured heels, but because they’re in a solid colour, it really pulls the outfit together, and all because of a contrasting colour.

Mary Janes

Court shoes and pumps are in a league of their own, but there’s something about the chunkier shoe look that’s oh so fashionable these days. The broad shoe with the chunky heel can really draw a lot of attention, even if it’s in black. The shape of the shoe is bold enough to do all the talking and there’s no doubt that people will hear you a block away. Perfect to grab some attention! Paired with jeans or dresses, they go with just about most outfits, and the colour combinations are endless too.

Ankle boots

The biker look is especially popular these days and as a sister shoe to the knee-high boots, ankle boots are in a category of their own. They really do have ‘maximum comfort’ written all over them and with the soft padding on the inside, you really won’t realize you’ve had them on all day long! Great for everyday work shoes, and because they are smart, you can get away with wearing them even in a formal setting if you match your colours correctly. Muted colours like black, brown, and maybe even maroon could work for you!

Black pumps

Last but certainly not least, you can never go wrong with a classic pair of black pumps, the OG shoe for every sophisticated woman. Even if you haven’t worn them in a while, it’s time to dig them out from the back of your wardrobe, because they never were out of style! Even Jennifer Lopez ditches her heels once in a while! Considered to be one of the most elegant and classic shoe types, these are perfect for both your everyday work, as well as being able to wear them on the weekend with a good pair of jeans, so your styling options truly are endless!
