Give your skin a new lease on life with these 7 products
Investing in skincare products can be a daunting task. Where do you shop for beauty products both online and in-store? What do you look out for?
These age-old questions have us thinking, don't they? But luckily for you, we’ve done all the work in finding seven of the best products to rejuvenate your skin.
As with anything, you are going to take your time and scope out the different types of products available and what will work best for your skin. While more expensive options do not necessarily mean the best, and the cheapest can often cost you dearly in the long run, our list will certainly leave you with more answers than questions.

Hyaluronic acid

Any product with hyaluronic acid is almost always guaranteed to increase your skin’s hydration and elasticity. And since hyaluronic acid is part of the extracellular matrix, specifically where collagen and elastin fibers can be found, the absence of hyaluronic acid would mean your skin is dehydrated. And when your skin is dehydrated, you know what that means, sagging skin, wrinkles, and more! You can find hyaluronic acid in a range of products, including serums, moisturizers, day and night creams, etc.

Anything with retinol

Retinol-based products have for a long time been a favorite the world over. The benefits of retinol cannot be understated, and it fights acne, reducing wrinkles and those harsh dark marks too. And contrary to popular belief, adults also get acne, and it’s great that retinol helps to reduce the appearance thereof by increasing cell turnover and decreasing oil. Another benefit of retinol is that it boosts blood flow to the skin by increasing the production of collagen and reducing the signs of aging. You can find retinol in just about any skincare product.

Vitamin C

While the common thing is to use vitamin c-based products throughout summer, it is highly recommended to be used throughout the year due to its many properties that protect your skin. “Vitamin C can be used throughout the year, but we reinforce its use in the summer because that's when heat and UV rays from the sun cause more free radicals and damage to the skin, so protecting your skin with vitamin C is essential to achieve a more beautiful and healthier glow," says expert Dr. Lucas Fustinoni. Additionally, it is also important to note that usually, we use fewer acids and powerful substances during the summertime because they are heavily impacted by the sun. So, in this regard, vitamin c helps in treating spots at high temperatures. Some of the benefits of using vitamin c-based products include:
  • It’s safe for most skin types
  • Hydration
  • Brightening, as often our skin looks dull
  • Reduces redness
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation
  • Reduces the appearance of circles under the eyes
  • Promotes collagen production
  • Helps with the prevention of skin sagging
  • Helps in the protection against sun damage
  • Soothes sunburn
  • Helps with wound healing

Sunscreen

A common misconception is that you are only meant to use sunscreen during the warmer months, but this is simply not true. The sun’s harsh UV rays are there all year round, and your skin needs protection. Opt for a sunscreen with no less than 30 sun protection factor (SPF) as it is up to 97% effective against the sun’s UV rays. You must get into a regular habit of applying sunscreen. If you, like many others, forget to apply it daily, you can opt for getting a day cream that contains SPF 30 and above. This is one way to save you the time of applying sunscreen, and you are killing two birds with one stone by both moisturizing and protecting your skin. A new study has shown that sunscreen improves the appearance of your skin. This is because sunscreen’s defense is to protect your skin from the sun, which in turn limits premature aging and dramatically reduces dark spots.

Antioxidants

According to science, most of our skin’s behavior is influenced by genetics, but this does not mean we can just take it all for granted. A lot of our genetics have proved to be the reason why some of us experienced premature aging and sagging. A way to combat this is with substances that prevent them, like antioxidants. Some of which are wonderful and help boost the production of collagen.

Collagen

The skin probably benefits the most from collagen. It helps to smooth wrinkles and boost elasticity in the skin. Collagen is what keeps our skin from sagging and provides that youthful glow; yes, any person can have that youthful glow if they use products containing collagen.

Oral supplements

Few people enjoy ingesting any form of pharmaceuticals, even if it means their skin will be transformed into something more rejuvenated. The benefits of oral supplements mean that you can take one daily and watch your skin transform over time into the skin you’ve always wanted. It’s important to be patient though, allow the supplements to work between three and six months before you see results.
