Get the look: Reese Witherspoon

Get the look: Reese Witherspoon

Favouring a fashion style that reflects her southern upbringing, Reese Witherspoon’s feminine, pretty approach to dress is something that can be easily adopted for spring, with a plethora of imitable options on the high street. Find out how to shop five of her classic looks below

Lace and liner

For a formal occasion, lace receives a serious fashion update in the form of this laser-cut style, allowing peeps of contrasting lining to show through. This Hobbs pencil dress (£189) has a similar effect to Witherspoon’s red-carpet frock, with the added bonus of being daytime appropriate.

Team with cream heels to elongate the leg (£89, Monsoon), and keep accessories simple—a statement chunky ring (£115, Pandora) will suffice. To achieve Reese’s youthful glow, hair and make-up can also be pared back. Team a groomed brow in a suitably nuanced shade of gel (£19.95, Wunderbrow) with a subtle cat eye flick (£10, Memi) and finish off with a spritz of Kevin Murphy’s “Shimmer Me Blonde”(£22), a repairing shine treatment designed to bring the best out of fair hair.

Denim on denim

Most wardrobes contain both a denim jacket and a pair of skinny jeans, but if you want to wear them together this spring, the key is to play with shades and proportions. Team a lighter, cropped style jacket (£39.99, Look Again) with darker jeans (£22.99 New Look) to accentuate your waist in a fun, fitted t-shirt (£17.99, Amazon Fashion).

In the spirit of matching, keep accessories as red as Mom’s cherry pie— Topshops’ suedette heels (£42) and Freemans bag (£28) pair perfectly with Accessorize sunglasses (£12.50) and a bold Smashbox lipstick in shade “Fireball” (£17.50)

Spring arrival

Nothing says spring quite like an elegant floral wrap dress. Dress down a fancy style such as our £300 Selfridges number with flat sandals (Aldo, £35) and beachy jewellery. OC Butcher has a great range of pendant necklaces (£42) while Claire’s accessories shouldn’t be overlooked for its inexpensive costume earrings (£3).

When it comes to accessories, Witherspoon is nothing if not practical. Popsicle-coloured sunglasses (£13, And Other Stories) are surprisingly neutral on warm skin, while a barrel bag (£23.99, Aldo) is the perfect size to tote around all those screenplays and project notes…

Country girl

Channel your inner southern belle with this paparazzi perfect look. This season’s range at Mango is full of gingham pieces that Witherspoon would be proud of, including this ruched sleeve blouse (£29.99). Tie at the bottom or tuck loosely into kick-flare jeans (£96, M.I.H Jeans), a retro style that is a little more flattering than the traditional bell-bottom. Finishing just above the ankle, they’re the perfect length to show off a stylish pair of mules (£120, Sam Edelman). Bring things even further up to date with this season’s must-haves—a monogrammed phone case (£24, Silk Fred) and bucket bag (£15.99, Pull & Bear)

To achieve the perfect high ponytail, ditch the damaging elastics and opt for a silk scrunchie instead from Only Curls (£10 for three). Designed to be gentler on hair, they limit the amount of breakage and follicle damage, leaving your locks free to swish around your timeless cat eye glasses (£14, River Island).

Bookish beauty

Staying office-smart yet comfortable when the weather hots up can be difficult, but you can’t go far wrong with a floaty blouse and A-line skirt combination. Our version of Reese’s peppy shirt from Sainsbury’s (£18) is a great transitional piece with its long sleeves and twisted-knot neckline, tucking smoothly into a soft black skirt (£18, Dorothy Perkins).

For a touch of Elle Woods (of course), go pink with your accessories—Valetti’s heels (£62) and Made in Tuscany’s bag (£63) will be kinder on your purse than Reese’s exact versions, but achieve the same effect.

Reading on the commute is essential—Witherspoon’s very own book Whiskey In A Teacup (£19.99) will offer up all sorts of extra tips on achieving sartorial and professional success.
