Find the perfect sunglasses to suit your face shape

In order to make a round face look thinner and sharper, you should pick sunglasses with more angular features in order to offset the curves of your face. Square, rectangle, shield and wrap sunglasses all work well. Round frames can accentuate the roundness of your face so avoid butterfly or cat eye sunglasses.
 

Those with an oblong shaped face can benefit from chunky rimmed glasses to make the face look a little wider. Avoid small frames which could make the face look longer and thinner, and instead go for large, square styles with sharp angles, such as wrap or shield sunglasses. Wayfarers are a brilliant choice as they're wide along the top line, yet have slightly rounded lenses and tend to have a chunky rim. Plus, they're a timeless vintage style you can bring out each year without the risk of them going out of fashion. Round frames can work provided they are quite wide, but avoid Aviators which have teardrop shaped lenses; they can make the face look very long.
 

With length and width of the face measuring roughly the same, people with square faces tend to have a strong jawline and broad forehead; they need rounded frames in order to soften their features for a more balanced look. Aviators and butterfly sunglasses therefore tend to work well, but any circular or oval style can be suitable. Square faced people can often get away with big frames provided that the angles are reasonably soft, so get your diva on and go for the largest, most dramatic frames you can find!
 

Oval faced people are the lucky ones. With a little more length than a round face, yet softer features than oblong or square faces, they can choose almost any style and shape sunglasses they like! The only thing to look out for is the size: don't pick shades that are too big; they shouldn't go above the eyebrow or below the chin.
 

Heart or triangle shaped faces are wide at the temples and narrow at the chin, so you'll need to choose some shades to balance out this shape. Avoid straight lines at the top of the sunglasses, and choose something that's quite wide along the lower edges. Rounded shapes are best, so opt cat-eye, butterfly or Aviator-style glasses. Square and rectangle frames can often make the face look too sharp, so be cautious when trying these styles.
 

People with diamond shaped faces tend to have killer high cheek bones which make the face appear wide in the middle yet narrow at the forehead and chin. Rimless sunglasses look brilliant on diamond faces; just make sure to choose something with gentle curves and check that the shades are no wider than your cheekbones as they could swamp your features. For this reason, it's not advisable to choose butterfly shades which tend to be incredibly oversized.
