3 Steps to Bring the Spa to Your Home

3 Steps to Bring the Spa to Your Home

They may be incredibly relaxing, but spa breaks can also be expensive. Try our cheaper alternative with these 3 essential products that bring specialised spa treatments into the comfort of your home.

Home comforts

Long gone are the days when face masks are sold in dubious looking, brightly coloured sachets and often do more harm than good. Expert treatments are now on offer that you don’t need to leave the house for. Whatever your skin grievance is, there’s sure to be a product that can provide intensive treatment. Face masks are designed to be absorbed by your skin, so I believe it’s better to opt for products that harness the power of organic ingredients. Here are a few of my firm favourites:

1. Cleansing

Although I'm well and truly past my hormonal teenage years and I may have done away with bouts of irrational behaviour, my skin hasn’t—I’m still afflicted by blemishes.

Clay masks are used to draw out the oils that cause problem skin to break out, and I have two favourite masks that serve this purpose to great effect. If you’re plagued by large pores then I can strongly recommend Aesop’s Camomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Mask. Once applied and dry, you can visibly see the mask drawing out the bad stuff (it smells divine too). Secondly, after using Khiel’s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque, I immediately noticed a difference. It’s perfect if you suffer from frequent break-outs and it also leaves skin feeling extremely soft.

2. Softening

The extreme weather can have a negative effect on our skin. If you’re feeling a little weather-worn, hydrate your skin with Fresh’s Crème Ancienne Ultimate Nourishing Honey Mask – it works wonders in a matter of minutes. This product is bursting at the seams with organic ingredients that serve to replenish the skin, adding moisture, elasticity and radiance.

3. Refreshing

Often after a long journey or a restless night’s sleep, my complexion looks noticeably jaded. Origins has provided a quick treatment in a tube with its new GinZing Refreshing Face Mask. The gel formula is fortified with caffeine to revitalise and cucumber to soothe. After using it my skin feels firmer, looks brighter and I’m ready to face the day.
