7 Great things about being single
Seven simple reasons to celebrate living the single life from the author of The Art of Being Single, Candi Williams.

1. Bed bliss

Yeah sure, spooning's great but have you ever woken up in snoozy starfish bliss with no one else's limbs digging into you?
This is the time to make the most of the bed space being all yours. Embrace not having to battle for the best side of the bed or the extra pillow, and not waking up teetering on the edge of the bed/floor apocalypse.
Own it. Enjoy every inch. Starfish wide and starfish with pride—you're the bed boss.

2. Unashamedly not sharing meal deals

One of the very, very best things about being single? Not having to share those "dine for two" deals.
Because, let's be honest, the suggested serving sizes are pretty ambitious—serves two? Pfft. Savour every mouthful.

3. Working out what matters to you

Relationships are all about compromise. Being single, on the other hand, gives you some headspace to work out who you are and what you want out of life.
Ultimately, you are the most important person in your world. Use your time alone to figure out your focus and work on your own story—at your own pace.

4. Time to heal your heart and mend

I'm not talking about healing in a Marvin Gaye way here. But being single gives you time to focus on your emotional well-being and heal any unresolved issues.
Mindfulness, yoga, talking therapies and journaling—they're all great ways to calm your mind, soothe your soul and find your inner joy.

5. Not feeling guilty

Do your thing. Stay out until 2am doing karaoke. Go out with friends three nights in a row. Eat that chocolate cake
Do what you want without the pangs of guilt or worry. This is your time to shine!

6. Start feeding your friendships

Well, don't literally feed them (although I am always open to being fed delicious food by friends.)
Being single is an ideal tim to focus more on your friendships. Good friends are there for you through break-ups, make-ups, tears, fears and giggles. They have your back when you need them most. But it's a two-way street, so invest in them, look after them and be sure to show them some love.

7. Getting comfy in your own company

However extroverted or introverted you are, it's always good to learn to enjoy your own company.
I'm not talking about sitting in silence and twiddling your thumbs. I'm talking about making the most of me-time—whether that's bringing a wholesome new meaning to Netflix and chilling, practising self-care, reading a book or just generally moving yourself out of a FOMO zone to "I kinda like my time alone".
