Combine the ultimate Christmas jumper with a truly festive costume.

All you need is a green jumper, some tinsel, baubles, a star and basic sewing skills.

This sweet costume is really simple to make and only requires duct tape and cardboard. Perfect for a last minute fix.

A simple ghost costume is all you need to pull off this outfit.

If you're seriously short of time, up the comedy factor with the classic sheet with holes in look.

Alternatively, team up with some friends for the full Christmas Carol cast.

For couples

The idea for this costume is simple, but seriously original. Here's how to create a moving image fireplace sweater using an iPad:

Buddy and Jovi

Inspired by the Christmas film Elf, this couple's costume is one for the more adventurous crafter.

Transform your family into Dr Seuss's Whos of Whoville with this adorable costume idea.

This works particularly well for large families, as you can have as many Whos as you like, but also works well with just the Grinch, Cindy Lou and Max the dog.

Frozen

You'd be hard pressed to find children not enchanted by Frozen.

This family avoided costume envy by having two Elsas—double the magic, half the drama!

For children

A Christmas dove

There are lots of ways to make this adorable costume.

The version in the video above uses cardboard, but floaty material works just as well.
