10 Eye opening facts about space
A few facts about space that might just make you think 
Space is a vast, clearly visible yet hard to imagine place, it's where everything else but it's mostly empty, it's unbelievable big but light can travel across it relatively quickly. There's actually a lot that makes up the vacuum that we all exist in and some facts about it may just get you thinking, if not doing a bit of research yourself.

Unimaginable Size 

The observable universe is estimated to be about 93 billion light-years in diameter. These are distances that are hard to comprehend to the human mind, even with high-tech computers and our imagination.

Neutron Stars 

Neutron stars are incredibly dense celestial objects formed after a massive star goes supernova - which is when a massive star collapses on itself and sheds its material in a huge explosion. A teaspoon of neutron star material is estimated to weigh about as much as a mountain.

Black Holes 

A black hole
On the very edge of theoretical physics and reality exist black holes, black holes are regions in space where gravity is so strong that not even light can escape their grasp. We know they exist because we've seen them and can see their effects, though fortunately no one has been sucked into one just yet.

Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation 

The faint glow of microwave radiation present throughout the universe is a remnant of the Big Bang, providing evidence for the theory of the universe's origin.

Diamond Planets

There are all sorts of fascinating and wonderful types of planets in the universe, scientists have discovered exoplanets made entirely of diamond, with high pressure and carbon-rich atmospheres turning them into massive gems.

Time Dilation 

 Einstein's theory of relativity predicts that time can slow down or speed up depending on an object's speed and gravity. Clocks on the International Space Station, for example, run slightly faster than those on Earth.

Dark Matter and Dark Energy 

About 95% of the universe is composed of so called dark matter and dark energy, mysterious substances that we cannot directly observe but influence the behaviour of galaxies and the expansion of the universe. Dark matter has been a big subject in science fiction, with proposed uses for interstellar travel and as a new source of energy.

Hypervelocity Stars 

Some stars can achieve such high speeds that they escape the gravitational pull of their home galaxies, traveling through the vastness of space as "hypervelocity" stars.

Thousands of exoplanets (planets outside our solar system) have been discovered over the past few decades, some of which have potential conditions that could support life as we know it. Some planets have exotic and extreme atmospheres and planetary conditions, from planets tidally locked with their star with perpetual day and night, to giant rocky type planets many times bigger than our Earth.

The Great Attractor 

And this is a bit of a spooky one—The Milky Way, along with many other galaxies, is being pulled toward an unknown gravitational anomaly called the Great Attractor, estimated at around 150 million light years away from Earth, lying around the Norma Super Cluster.
