4 Ways Ketosis May Affect Your Body

BY READERS DIGEST

5th Feb 2019 Recipes

The Keto Diet has become extremely popular because of its ability to promote rapid weight loss. Famous stars like Halle Berry and the Kardashians cite the high-fat, low-carb diet as being responsible for their picturesque figures. Furthermore, various studies support the Keto Diet’s ability to offer numerous health benefits. It’s no wonder that so many people are following in their footsteps

Many of us are after an effective means of weight loss and Keto may be the answer. The diet revolves around inducing a state of ketosis in the body. This is the process whereby the body runs out of sugar stores and, as a result, processes fat stores into ketones for energy. While the diet is one of the safest ways to cause ketosis, keto supplements can offer an efficient means of getting there. This is due to the fact that keto supplements contain concentrated doses of ketones to speed up the process. However, getting the most bang for your buck is all about finding quality keto supplements. After all, not every product is created equally. Through either the diet itself or keto supplements, your body may experience these amazing benefits:

1. Effective Weight Loss

The most popular reason for taking a keto supplement or following the Keto Diet is its ability to support weight loss. Numerous studies suggest that ketosis can cause significant fat burning results. While results are not entirely conclusive and more research needs to be done, they do indicate the potential this diet has. Furthermore, nutritional specialists report that ketosis is ideal for rapid weight loss. This is primarily because of the fact that the body will burn fat quicker than it stores it. In order to maximize the results, you should ensure that you do not consume heavy carbohydrates. This is because the body will then use these carbohydrates for fuel instead of the rich fat received from the keto diet. No fat? No energy. Simple as that. Some argue that the Keto Diet revolves around starving the individual from important nutrients. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The diet focuses on supplying the essential calories for the day but minimizes excess carbohydrates. It is a low-carb diet rather than a no-carb diet. You can try various recipes and still eat your favourite dishes, just low-carb! E.g. if you're fan of pies and minced meat, then Keto Shepherd’s Pie should be your next meal. Bear in mind that results are seen over long periods of time. For this reason, it is wise to stick to the diet as your body grows more attuned to it.

2. Better Cognitive Function

The Keto Diet revolves around supplying high-contents of fat to the body. This is because of the fact that the body will be using this fat for energy. The brain is one of the primary users of this fat for energy. Fatty acids are essential for optimal brain functioning. Therefore, ketosis may be an ideal means for supporting cognitive function. It is important to remember that the good fats will be good for your brain. Therefore, it is not ideal to consume only fatty foods like bacon and butter -  you are going to want to source most of your fat from plant-based foods. Olive oil, nuts, and seeds are a great place to start.

3. Improved Insulin Sensitivity

Simple carbohydrates are a harmful contributor to insulin irregularities. As a result, they can lead to type 2 diabetes. By cutting back on the excessive simple carbs and sugars, it's unlikely that you will experience unstable energy. It is due to the fact that you receive less of these foods that your blood sugar levels rise slower. Therefore, you can minimize your risk of type 2 diabetes by following the Keto Diet or inducing ketosis.

4. Increased Energy Levels

As we have already mentioned, ketosis has an impact on your energy levels. The lack of starchy carbohydrates and sugars combats the chances of sugar spikes. This will minimize the risk of crashes, therefore, maintaining optimal energy throughout the day. Furthermore, your body burns fat for energy more efficiently when you enter ketosis. This supports optimal cognitive function which, in turn, increases the rate at which your body receives nutrients. Therefore, you will experience longer lasting and more energy throughout your day. This can do wonders for a workout.

Ketosis can have several beneficial effects on the body. Whether you follow the Keto Diet or use a quality keto supplement, this may be the ideal solution to your weight loss problems. As long as you combine quality supplements with regular exercise and healthy eating then you should experience some of the benefits above. Always make sure you consult with your doctor before embarking on a new diet or regime.
