Top 10 MMORPGs to Play in 2020
Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games are giants in the gaming industry. The MMO market value was in 2017 was a staggering 31 billion US dollars, and we can only predict how bigger it is now with the rise of MOBAS and the Free to Play model. From the first iterations of Ultima Online to the Warcraft series and then giants like League of Legends, MMO's will be at the top of the gaming industry.
These games are not limited to a particular age group nor sex. Indeed, a considerable percent of the young generation is playing online games actively, men and women alike. For instance, the average age of eSports players is between 24 and 27 years confirms this statement.
With that we will present the top 10 MMO games in 2020:

World of Warcraft

With it's the cartoony and nostalgic art style, it won the hearts of players worldwide. With so many things to do, and with so many people to play with, WoW is always an excellent choice for you. Be that you want to be a team player or a solo gamer who wants to show their skills off, WoW is the perfect game for that.

Fortnite

One of the biggest games ever with 350 million players Fortnite has become a giant like no other in the gaming industry. The sandbox open-world shooter can be played on an array of platforms and is taking the world by storm from 2017. Epic Games creation let’s players fight in this colorful world and their most popular mode Battle Royal, sets 100 players with different shields, weapons and building materials competing against each other in a big arena.

With its popularity only growing larger, this fan favorite is sure to stay and be played for a long time!

Guild Wars 2

Developed by ArenaNet, this fantasy roleplaying game is set in the world of Tyria! Since it was released in 2012, the game gained a massive following, and it is one of the most popular MMORPG. This game scraps the slower and slightly more static target-based systems compared to games like WoW. It replaces it with a lot more action-focused gameplay. More similar to a single roleplaying game, you can use your weapon-specific abilities to zip around the battlefield or crash into the ground. It is a perfect game for those wanting to get a dose of adrenaline.

League of Legends (LoL)

It is hard to find the right words when you need to describe LoL. It is one of the most popular games for a decade already. Believe it or not, during the 10th-anniversary, LoL had a worldwide peak concurrent player count of eight million per day. There are no precise data about a number of LoL players in 2020. However, with the rise of esports and all the other statistics, we can predict that there will be more than 100 million players by the end of this year.

RuneScape

Well, if you are a big fan of the click-based movement system, then this game is for you. You won't be able to jump in the game. However, that doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Originally a Java browser game, today, as a standalone release, it boasts over 200 million accounts and one of the bigger MMO worlds out there.
The game is popular because of its questing system. Players set their own goals and can choose to fight NPC or other players. Each quest that you undertake is a real adventure because of the characters and lovingly-written multi-step story. Some journeys won't take you more than 5 minutes. However, you will find those that will take you up to 10 hours.

Final Fantasy XIV: Online

A cross to play title available on multiple platforms, like the Mac or Playstation. This game was primarily a single-player type of game. However, the creators followed the trends and turned it into an MMO.
When we talk about design, this game is one of the most impressive on the market. Square Enix did its best to create attractive character designs, amazing cutscenes, and beautifully designed towns. Despite that, it is good to mention that FFXIV allows players to level all available classes on a single character.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Developed by Bioware Austin, this is Star Wars MMO in all its glory. With most of its dialogue fully voice-acted and its expansive storylines, this is a must-play for any Star Wars fan. This feature includes Mass Effect-style cinematic cameras and dialogue wheels as well. The players can roleplay whatever sort of character they want.

The Elder Scrolls Online

The synonym for this game is "action" because the entire game is based on an action-packed combat system. If you have played Elder Scrolls games before, then you should know that you can dodge, block, and sneak just like before. Just like the previous game from our list, the quests are all fully voice-acted. The players can make some critical choices that will alter their outcomes.
Players need to pick a class. Still, their playing style will only be dictated by the skills that they level up in their ability trees. Other powers are unlocked through weapon or armor skills progression.

Tera

A fantasy MMO published nine years ago. The key feature of the game is its combat. Highly customizable with seven races, it offers a beautifully crafted world with a lot of action. It follows a traditional quest system, but it differentiates itself with its third-person combat and dodging mechanics. Yet, things become different when you step out into the field and try to take down one of Tera's Monsters. With a free to play model, it's there for all those who want to try it.

Black Desert Online

The 10th place goes to one of the newer games on the market. With a highly advanced player character customization option, the game was published in 2016. Black Desert Online offers one of the most expensive crafting systems on the market. A Combo-based system where players can engage in mounted combat as well. With its dynamic weather system, castle battles, player housing, where you can be a fisherman, merchant, or anything that you would like to be, this MMO is something that you check out!
