Madeleine Shaw's top tips for a healthy routine

Not so long ago, Madeleine Shaw would wake up feeling bloated, tired and unhealthy. So she decided to turn her life around and embarked on a journey to health that saw her travel to Sydney where she learned the art of eating well.

What’s your morning routine?

I start the day with a few stretches then hop out of bed and have a turmeric tea and a glass of water. I get in the shower and get ready for the day. 

If it's an early start I'll whizz up a quick smoothie to go. If I'm working out that day I'll always make sure there is lots of protein in there to fuel me through my workout. My favourite smoothie is anything with almond butter in it! It's so good.

Then I'll head out the door to the office which is only down the road.


What’s the most cherished part of your day?

I don't think I have one. I love my job so waking up to the newness of that day is great. I love also the end of the day when I hang out with my boyfriend Kieran.


How do you re-balance after a stressful day? 

I love watching a Netflix series or having a bath, anything that gets me off my phone. I also relax by being in nature. Long walks in the park really calm me down. 

Clean sheets, a tidy house, travelling, sunny days, swimming in the ocean, Sunday brunch and live music always make me feel happy.

Who or what is your wellbeing inspiration?

My inspiration is finding healthy, wholesome and balanced foods that I can share with my audience. I'm always trying to experiment with recipes and produce that are sustainable, affordable and of course, enjoyable.  


Favourite energising food/activity? 

Rock climbing is pretty exhilarating and yoga always wakes me up. When it comes to food, poached eggs on toast gives me an energy boost.

Nuts are my favourite on-the-go snack, they are easy to find and so moreish to eat.
