Chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients

  • 125g butter
  • 80g caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons condensed milk
  • 150g self-raising flour
  • 125g dark cooking chocolate, chopped
  • Sifted icing sugar, for dusting

Recipe method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C/gas 3. Grease or line two baking trays with baking parchment or greaseproof paper.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl until light and creamy. Add the condensed milk and mix well. Fold the flour and chocolate into the butter mixture.
  3. Drop half-tablespoons of the mixture onto the baking trays, allowing room for spreading. Bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and leave to cool on the trays for three minutes, then carefully transfer to a wire rack and allow to cool completely.
  5. Lightly dust with icing sugar and store in airtight containers for up to four days.
