1. Green juice
"Juice cleansing", or the act of eating absolutely nothing and drinking only fruit and vegetable juices, has become extremely popular of late. Juices tend to be a vibrant green colour and consist of things like spinach, kale and cucumber.

2. Cutting out carbs
Since the rise of the Atkins diet in the 1970s, cutting out carbohydrates - bread, pasta etc - has been one of the most popular ways to try and lose weight. It's a diet that doesn't come in and out of fashion but is always there on the sidelines!
3. The maple syrup diet
This is a diet that soared to fame after Beyoncé claimed to have a great deal of success with it. It was a crazy crash diet in which the participant would eat absolutely nothing for a fortnight and consume only drinks consisting of maple syrup, water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper! It makes our stomach rumble just thinking about it.
The rise and fall of the cronut is a very recent happening. The cronut rose to popularity after its invention in 2014 but quickly fell out of favour after it became too "mainstream". The cronut is essentially a donut made from croissant dough.
For no particular reason at all, the sturdy leafy green kale has become hugely popular across the UK and the USA. It's added to green juices, dehydrated to make crisps and added to superfood salads. It's most popular amongst vegans due to its huge list of health benefits.

Sriracha - the hot sauce - absolutely exploded recently with people confessing their undying love for it all over the internet. Diehard fans stock up on it and add it to absolutely everything, whilst companies have even manufactured T-shirts, hoodies and baseball caps dedicated to Sriracha!
7. Pumpkin spice
We're all familiar with the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, and every autumn without fail we see a huge rise in products featuring pumpkin spice. Some love it, some hate it, but none of us seem to be able to avoid it!
Quinoa is - much like kale - a superfood that is lauded endlessly by the healthy foodie community. It's a seed as opposed to a grain (this is apparently very important) and is pronounced keen-wah. It's a delicious addition to salads and is still as popular as ever!
9. Salted caramel
The simple addition of salt to caramel has created a huge trend in desserts across the country. We're all obsessed with salted caramel lattes, but salted caramel is added to some pretty strange products too. The last few years have seen the production of salted caramel cheese at Waitrose and even salted caramel green tea from Twinings!
10. Almond milk
Not a food, granted, but an enormous fad at the moment. Water is pressed with almonds and a little salt to make this alternative to dairy milk, which has become massively popular with the vegan community.
