5 Reasons why we love Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe has come out as the ultimate modern man. And here are 5 things that make him awesome...

1. Comfortable in his body

Right after finishing Harry Potter, Daniel got naked on stage in his role for Equus; stripping his association with boy wizard and telling the world: I am now a man. A very brave move. Daniel has since been more than comfortable getting his kit off on screen and has adapted nicely to grown up roles.

2. Feminist dreamboat

Since adopting more romantic roles, Daniel often gets coined as an “unconventional sex symbol”. When asked his thoughts on this one too many times, he replied “What exactly is it about me that is unconventional?” The response came that the whole world had watched him grow up, as the young wizard Harry Potter, he came back with: “Well, the male population has had no trouble sexualising Emma Watson immediately.” A perfect response from the rather dashing young man.

3. Totally tolerant

Not content with taking on sexism, he also took on the ‘taboo’ of gay sex on screen. In Kill Your Darlings, Daniel played the iconic beat poet Allen Ginsberg (who happens to be gay). He had this to say about a particularly saucy scene: “It’s interesting that it’s deemed shocking. For me, there’s something very strange about that because we see straight sex scenes all the time. We’ve seen gay sex scenes before. I don’t know why a gay sex scene should be any more shocking than a straight sex scene. Or both of them are equally unshocking.”

4. A genuine, nice guy

One of the greatest things about Daniel is his personality. He’s a genuinely nice, down to earth guy.

The proof...

On bumping into Dublin’s minor Gaelic Football team when wandering the streets of Dublin, he got invited back to their house party. Naturally he accepted the invite, but found himself short of cash for the journey home. The team paid for his taxi, no problem. Two years later he remembered his debt and sent them a kind note.

The note read: “Hi guys, So, thanks again for paying for my cab! I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t honour my word and pay you back. Once again great meeting you all. Hope this covers it! Dan R”

There’s also the time he paid his fans a surprise…

5. Awesome rapper

If you need any more convincing that Daniel Radcliffe is the best, then watch him speed rap “Alphabet Aerobics” by Blackalicious…

Watch Daniel as the lead in our favourite of his grown up movies: The Woman in Black
