The season begins with Our Town, directed by Ellen McDougall from 16th May to 8th June. Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning play celebrates what it means to be human, the bonds that hold communities together, and our relationships with the ancient past and the eternal tomorrow.

Following the Open Air Theatre and English National Opera’s collaboration on The Turn of the Screw last year, Timothy Sheader will direct Engelbert Humperdinck's opera, Hansel and Gretel. In the unique environment of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, experience the Grimm Brothers’ fairytale anew in this operatic retelling, sung in English. Members of the ENO orchestra will be conducted by Ben Glassberg and will run from 14th to 22nd June.

William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream will then return to the theatre for the first time in seven years, directed by Citizens Theatre artistic director Dominic Hill. His work at Citizens includes productions of Oresteia, Crime and Punishment, and Betrayal. Through live music, playful adventure and physical invention, see the lovers' world transformed into a place of magic, laughter and healing, as we journey into the woods. The play will run from 28th June to 27th July.

Jamie Lloyd will then direct a new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Evita, from 2nd August to 21st September. Having premiered in 1978, the musical features numbers such as “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”, “Oh! What a Circus” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall”.
