These 5 photos smash stigmas about mental health

We love this photography project from Latina mental health activist, Dior Vargas, which aims to break down some of the stereotypes surrounding mental illness.

Vargas started the project in order to counter the lack of representation of people of colour living with mental health issues.

In a bid to end the idea that mental illness is “a white person’s disease”, she opened up her project for submissions, creating a community of support and visibility.

She’s received hundreds of submissions, many of which joined in using the hashtags #NoStigma and #NoDiscrimination.
