Rearrange you home and get some good chi! These 4 tips will help you understand the art of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui is the Chinese art of arranging the space around you so as not to interrupt the flow of good energy (chi) and to steer away from bad chi. It can take some time to master the art of Feng Shui in your home, but everyone has to start somewhere, and if you can get to grips with the basics of Feng Shui, this should hold you in good stead as you find out more, as well as teaching you basic lessons which you can take into each room of your home and other areas of your life. Here are some of the ways in which you can easily Feng Shui your home.

Unblock energy to the front door

Before you start directing energy in your home, you need to be sure that you are not blocking the good energy from reaching your front door in the first place. Take a look at your garden and the path to your home. Anything large or bulky which is in the way could be blocking good chi or misdirecting it. Once the energy reaches the front door, make sure that it is not turned away by a door which is not welcoming. The front door should be freshly painted and the entrance neat. The best colours for a front door depend on which way the door is facing. Fire element colours (red, orange, pink) are best for south-facing doors, whilst north-facing doors should have water element colours, such as blue or black.

Get rid of clutter

Clutter is one of the biggest problems for blocking good energy, and any house with good Feng Shui will not have any clutter whatsoever. It is thought that by lightening the amount of stuff that you have in the house you also lighten the aura of the house in general. This means regular clear-outs and not being too sentimental about possessions.

Understand the five elements

There are five basic Feng Shui elements and you will want to balance these in your home according to what sort of energy you are trying to attract. The five elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, and each is represented by certain colours and materials which you will place in your home in different ways so that they interact perfectly. If you are looking to improve your situation at work, for example, you will want to use the Water element, and place it in the north-facing portion of your home. You can research the five elements and where they need to be within your home online.

Get the air and light right

You should always have good quality air and light in your home so that good energy can flow better, so you should open your windows often, pull up blinds and shutters which make the house dark throughout the day and so on. Fill your home with plants which will help to purify the air and let as much natural light into your house as possible, only switching to electric lights when absolutely necessary.
