The Hollywood pair talk about their new movie Miss You Already—a tearjerker about friendship pushed to the limits. It will have you laughing out loud between the sobs.

Miss You Already—the ultimate test of friendship

It wasn’t that long ago that we all sat glued to BBC One’s ballsy adaptation of Lisa Lynch’s memoir about her experience of cancer. The C-Word starred Sheridan Smith and was both darkly humorous and incredibly moving.

The same can be said about Miss You Already, the story of two best friends going on a wild emotional journey together. Growing up, making mistakes, falling in love, getting jobs—and then cancer strikes.

“The humour made me cry harder”

– Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette talk about the emotional journey of playing Jess and Milly

Milly (Toni Collette) is a wild-child party girl who has everything she dreamed of—glamorous job, loving husband (Dominic Walker), luxurious home and two happy kids. Jess (Drew Barrymore) is the more serene of the two and less of a career girl. She’s perfectly content working in a community garden and living in a small boathouse with her boyfriend Jago (Paddy Considine). All that’s missing is a baby.

When Milly learns that a neglected lump in her breast is malignant, the first person she calls is her best friend, who continues to be present through it all: the chemo, hair-loss, hope and despair—and her crazily erratic behaviour.

As they both come to terms with living with cancer, their friendship is tested in ways neither of them anticipated. Their lives will never be the same again.
