hilarity begins at home

When their father dies, four siblings reconnect (and regress) as their plain-speaking mother insists they all stay together, in their childhood home, for seven days of mourning.

Emotions and nerves are stretched to the limit as old wounds, jealousies, resentments and confrontations resurface, and new revelations and entanglements are heaped on top of long-standing dysfunction.

Jason Bateman stars as middle brother Judd, who has just discovered his wife is having an affair with his boss. As a result he is effectively single and jobless; all this he has confided only to sister Wendy (Tina Fey), who can’t wait to spill the beans. The other brothers, ever-reliable Paul (Corey Stoll) and unpredictable Phillip (Adam Driver) bring along their own relationship turmoils, while Jane Fonda’s forthright matriarch Hilary—a renowned child therapist—has a habit of of trumping any revelation her kids throw into the mix.

An assortment of irritable spouses, exes and might-have-beens crank up the complications. Testing dilemmas underpin each of the many belly laughs along the way. At once outrageously funny and genuinely moving, each of the A-list ensemble cast are at the top of their game in this irresistible medley of chaos, heartache and redemption.
